what is halal?

Halal is meat (excluding pork and carnivorous animals) that has been slaughtered according to strict guidelines. These halal guidelines ensure that the animal was healthy, given water, and slaughtered  in a way that limits the amount of pain. The animals must be fed vegetarian diets, and can not be treated with growth hormones. The animals can only be slaughtered by hand. Once the animal is slaughtered maximum blood is drained from it's body.  The meat stays fresher longer, is healthier, and tastes better.

The halal method ensures the most humane treatment of the animal. They are well cared for and treated with respect.
